Around The Valley: Arizona Is Officially Better Than Us
Lets see what everyone else is saying about the Sun Devils and their opponent this week, the Oregon Ducks (5-2, 3-1 Pac-10).
Oregon wants to run the ball down ASU's throat..
Scott Bordow equates UA's success to a role reversal we should get used to... *scoff*
A few days old, but pertinent: ASU wants a $170 million renovation of Sun Devil Stadium..
Some positive news about our team on the Pac-10 site..
ARIZONA STATE: LB Mike Nixon has picked off a pass in each of the last two games. His two interceptions is tops in the league among non-defensive backs. . . . ASU defense forced five turnovers at USC in last game after gaining just four in first five games of the season. . . . With 9,472 yards passing, QB Rudy Carpenter has moved into the 10th spot on the Pac-10 career list. He also stands ninth in Pac-10 career total offense (9,256) and seventh in career touchdown passes (73). . . . Despite a tender ankle, Carpenter has started 37 straight games. . . . Sun Devil defense has allowed just six rushing touchdowns in six games. . . . P Thomas Weber had four of his nine punts at USC downed inside the 20-yard line.
News is a little hard to come by. That's what happens when a team you expect to contend for the Pac-10 championship is 2-4 after 6 games, and wallowing in pathetic.

Bordow is half right, but mostly wrong
For this year at least the tables appear to be turned. The jury is still out though, on whether au has turned the corner. Their schedule is alot like ours was last year, tailor made for success. Next year is similar, with 2 home games against Central Michigan and NAU leading into a road game at a reeling Iowa program. If the Pac 10 improves next year (and it’d be hard not to!), road games at USC, Oregon State, Cal and ASU will probably bring them back to earth. 6-7 wins would be a generous estimate, and they could easily slip back beneath the bowl radar. They’ve got a decade of futility that says they can’t afford to take anything for granted.
