Baseball America Dishes on some ASU baseball
Coming in at #1 on Baseball America's 2009 recruiting list, and #13 in their preseason top 25 rankings Baseball America's John Manuel and J.J. Cooper dished some knowledge on ASU baseball for the coming year.
Despite losing tons of players to the draft, ASU still comes in at #13 according to BA because of Pat Murphy and Holiday the recruiting coordinator. Carlos Ramirez, the JUCO transfer from Chandler-Gilbert C.C., according to these guys will be a better player than Petey Paramore (3rd round pick, Oakland A's) was for us last year. That is big.
Jared McDonald from Pima CC hit .425 last year and will be the 1st baseman, and seems to be an impact bat. Freshman will be manning 2nd and SS - positions to watch.
Finally, BA seems to be very high on our #2 starter, JC transfer Josh Spence, a guy who tops out at about 86 mph but has a filthy change and curveball.
Seems like it will be an interesting team to watch this year.

Here's the BA chat
Only one question specifically answered about ASU, but several touch on other Pac 10/West coast teams like USC, UCLA, San Diego, and Fullerton. Worth skimming through, especially if you’re a fan of college baseball overall and not just the Sun Devils.

ASUBoyd — have you listened to the podcast yet, and that’s where you got the takes on Ramirez, McDonald, and Spence? Curious to hear what they think about our newcomers.
Yup, that was where the info came from.
checked it out and just gave a rundown on what was said. Seems like they were highest on our JUCO guys. They said the FR will be good, but naturally having FR at 2B and SS is a bit dangerous.
Ramirez might be the best player on the team already, ha.
