Mark Reynolds is one of the FInal Vote candidates for the MLB All Star Game, to be held in St. Louis on July 14th.

I like his hard style of play, and his accountability to the team's successes and (numerous) failures. Plus, he has 24 HR. Pretty good year for the guy.

Give him a vote or 25.. I think he has earned it.

There isn’t that much to talk about regarding ASU.

Mark Reynolds is a beer league softball player. If he is an all-star it speaks sadly to how far the talent pool has been diluted via expansion. The guy can’t play defense and he has a huge hole in his bat.

Unfortunately, I have been watching a lot of Diamondbacks baseball lately, and I disagree with this statement. His defense was pretty bad last year, but it looks like he has put in the effort, and has improved markedly at 3B. Not to mention that now, he also plays 1B quite adequately.

That just is not true. Look at the stats.

His UZR this year is -1.0. Certainly he is no defensive whiz but that is barely below average.

Offensively, yeah, he strikes out but his wOBA is .390~! That is fantastic. He has been worth two and half wins above replacement and has been huge for the D-Backs.

FWIW

UZR midway through a season isn’t too meaningful

I’d like to hope that the bar for being an All-star at mid-season is greater than 2.5 WAR
