Lubick leaves ASU....for Duke???
http://www.azcentral.com/sports/asu/articles/2010/02/17/20100217asu-football-matt-lubick.html
The Arizona State football coach who lured five-star talent Vontaze Burfict to Tempe is leaving.
Matt Lubick, ASU's assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator, finalized a multiyear contract Wednesday to accept different positions at Duke University.
Lubick, who also coached defensive backs for ASU the last three seasons, will be Duke's recruiting coordinator, passing game coordinator and receivers coach. Moving eastward affords him the opportunity to have a hands-on role on the offensive side of the ball.
Well, that's just great. We lost probably the two best recruiters on the staff (Lubick and Yarber).
Things are not looking good for the ASU football team.
Edit: Jeff Metcalfe has some ideas for what DE should do

This was horrible news
He was out Southern Cal guy. Man I hope they get in someone “young” with a ton of potential and not just another one of Erickson’s drinking buddies.
I will say this though, I would not mind if Bryce Erickson took over the Recruiting coordinator position. I think he did a decent job this year and will get better each year. I also heard that Craig Brey almost left after the season so I hope DE gives him what ever he wants to stick around.
David Cutcliffe
Might be the second coming of Spurrier, and following his tracks to wet his whistle in the ACC was a smart move if you consider the talent of that league. What he is doing at Duke will be good, and this is a great pickup for him. Unfortunately at the expense of the Devils.
Honestly with Mazzone being hired and now this (could be repentent with a good hire in replacement) there should be a shake up of the whole athletic department. Mazzone is a lackluster OC IMO and CDE will have him throw the ball too much anyways. Losing great recruiters without replacing them is a great way to destroy a program that has marginal name recognition.
Can anyone tell me any good moves Lisa Love has done in her tenure?
It's not what you've done, but what you are doing that matters.
I agree
I would say that LL did very good in hiring Herb Sendek. DE was a great hire at first but it seems he might be set in his ways to much now.
Agreed with Herb.
That’s a man’s man of coaching right there. But even a blind squirrel can find a nut.

How is this on Love?
People are ecstatic with the Sendek hire, she brought in former Sun Devil Casey Myers to turn around the softball program, and the jury is still out on the volleyball and wrestling hires. That said, I think the majority of rational fans are very very pleased with the job that Lisa has done as AD. She has had to deal with tough revenue and facilities issues, exacerbated by how badly Arizona has been hit by the recession. There’s also been the Pat Murphy saga (ironically achieved while the program is at the highest level it’s been in 20 years.) Heck, even the Erickson hire looked like genius after year 1.
But almost all of the criticisms I’ve seen of her have had to do with either her gender or her previous ties to USC, as if she’s a plant the Trojans sent to destroy ASU. There’s been very little substantive criticism of Love thus far.
Well, lets see
It’s looking like she lied about the knowledge of the situation of Pat Murphy by saying he left on his own accord when it’s now know he was forced out. The administration under her played ignorant of what was going on in the Baseball program and are now saying they aren’t responsible? No offense, but I’ve seen personally what the NCAA will do to a program who says they are ignorant and shouldn’t be punished. It never happens like the administrators like.
So now because of trying to hide this and spin ASU will now be on a shorter leash. All it will take to make the “lack of institutional control” is a few inappropriate contacts with recruits or greater to have ASU lose scholarships, postseason play, etc.
Her last 3 years have now put the school in danger, and that is the damnable offense IMO.

I really wish I was a fly on the wall
There are so many things that go on in an athletic department that never get portrayed out to the public. I wish I knew all the facts that went into the baseball program instead of hearing the he said/she said type battle through the media. I think LL was trying to give her baseball coach the honor of going out on his own to save face for all he has done with the program. I just think that strategy back fired on her a little bit.
I agree that ASU will be on a shorter leash for sure but I think for the most part the pieces she has put in place are genuinely good for the university. One of the big problems for the NCAA was in the baseball program and she got rid of that problem. I think she is taking steps in the right direction but has taken a little to long to ensure that things are under the compliance of the NCAA guidelines.
On a somewhat related note….Why is it that both of my two favorite schools (Michigan and ASU) are going through the same crap. I am ready for some wins and not having to hear about any of this crap
