ASU's Jamal Miles Named 4th Team All-American

It's been a dark and disturbing six weeks for the Sun Devil football team. Since their 6-2 start, it has been a cavalcade of disappointment and drama, so it goes without saying that the team and Sun Devil Nation could use a little good news.

They received some on Tuesday when junior Jamal Miles was named to Phil Steele's All-American squad as the fourth team kick returner.

It's a well deserved honor for Miles. He finished second in the conference and 22nd nationally with a 26.3 yard per return average, which included a 98-yard touchdown return to start the second half against UC Davis and a 95-yard score on the game's opening kickoff against Washington State.

His returning prowess wasn't limited to just kickoffs, as he had a great 16.6-yard average on his 14 punt returns, including an important 78-yard touchdown return against Oregon State. His punt return average would have led the nation had he had just one more return to qualify for the rankings.

Miles was also a deadly offensive weapon. He finished second on the team with 60 receptions (for 361 yards) and tied for the team lead with six receiving touchdowns. He also threw a touchdown pass, and his jack-of-trades ability spawned the Twitter hashtag #JamalDoesItAll.
