Wildcats Extinguish Sun Devils, ASU Losing Streak Reaches Eight Games
The Arizona Wildcats proved their in-state dominance on Sunday evening in Tempe, putting on a clinic against the Sun Devils and improving their record to 21-4 on the season. UA defeated ASU 67-52 in a lopsided affair.
Kyle Fogg led all scorers with 26 points, while ASU seniors Ty Abbott and Rihards Kuksiks went a combined 2-10 from beyond the arc. Between the poor long distance shooting and the meager free throw percentage (57.1%), the Sun Devils never had a chance.
The real question: what happened to Trent Lockett? He only made 3 of his 10 shooting attempts, and only made 4 of 8 free throws. This performance was not what you'd expect from the team's best player, and the lack of big time shooting was the obvious reason for this loss.
Arizona just outplayed the Devils tonight, from start to finish. Derrick Williams fouled out and only scored 11 points, but that was all that the Wildcats needed from their superstar forward.
They just didn't have it tonight, friends. That's ten straight Pac-10 losses and no end to the pain in sight. Herb Sendek needs to get some more continuity from game to game, and hopefully the recruit pipeline brings in more wins next year.

I will say ASU is not that good, but UofA is not a top #25 team.

How do you figure?
Arizona is 21-4. They are in first place in the Pac-10 and two of their losses came against Kansas (#1) and BYU (#8). Consider that their loss at Washington was when the Huskies were nationally ranked and you can really only find one bad loss all season (Oregon St.).
Arizona also sports the best player in the conference and perhaps a top five player nationally in Williams. They might come back down to earth here when they play Washington, Washington St. and UCLA but they are certainly a top 25 team.
You may be letting your bias cloud your judgment.
For the thirteen time in 3 or one evers, I found myself toothlessly thinking about Manny Ramirez.
Actually, no bias really
To clarify, what I meant was that they don’t look like a top-25 team. That ever so popular eye ball test. I watch a lot of Big East as that is where my other alma mater lies, and I just don’t see UofA hanging with the top 7 or so teams in that league.
Yes, what I said was a knee jerk too soon after the loss comment, but I still don’t think they look like a top-25 team. Of course, with the crop of teams this year I may be wrong.

Well,
you chose a conference that may send 11 teams to the dance. That is a damn tough conference!
You could make the case that Arizona would be lower-middle of the pack in that conference but I suppose that isn’t so bad from a national perspective. It is difficult to know without Arizona playing any of those schools.
I think an eye ball test of the game the Cats played against UCLA will give you a better idea of their overall quality.
