The Sun Devils won the first two games against Auburn in Alabama this weekend, but were unable to pull off the sweep on Sunday afternoon, falling 10-8 at Plainsman Park.
ASU went into the bottom of the 8th with an 8-6 lead, but Mitchell Lambson (3-1, 4.15 ERA) gave up four runs to give Auburn a 10-8 lead that they would not relinquish.
Zach Wilson had a home run and four RBI for the Devils, and Zack MacPhee added two hits, two RBI and a run scored. Auburn was led by Dan Gamache, who also had four RBI and went 3/5 on the game.
With the loss, Arizona State falls to 11-3 on the season. Going into this weekend, ASU was ranked 7th in the NCAA, while Auburn was ranked 23rd. After winning 2 of 3 in a hostile environment, expect the Sun Devils to stay highly ranked and highly regarded.
