Stay connected for news and updates

The Sun Devils outlasted a tough California baseball team on Thursday afternoon, winning a marathon battle 6-4 in 17 innings. What a way to start a weekend series!

The Devils were given several quality pitching performances, beginning with 7.1 innings of work from Brady Rodgers. Alex Bradford added four innings, and Mark Lambson finished out the game with three innings of two-hit work to earn the victory. Trevor Williams and Mitchell Lambson added 2.2 innings combined.

Mark Lambson earned his second victory of the season. Riccio Torrez impressed with five hits over eight at-bats. Johnny Ruettiger had a rough day leading off for ASU, going 1/7. Matt Newman was 0/4 on the day, but added four walks to maintain an excellent on-base percentage.

These Sun Devils don't quit, regardless of the circumstances. They've pulled off a great season despite the postseason ban, and hopefully the fun continues tomorrow afternoon at 2:30. Lets go Sun Devils!
