The Sun Devils are hosting a regional.
After the school decided to appeal the postseason ban handed down by the NCAA in December, the ban was essentially lifted until a ruling was made. While we await the final decision, the ASU baseball team (39-16) has been given the honor of being a regional host in the 2011 postseason.
ASU has drawn a bracket with Arkansas, Charlotte, and New Mexico. As the top seed, they have been paired with the 20-39 Lobos, who made the field after pulling off a huge upset of TCU (42-17) in the Mountain West Conference tournament.
The regional begins play on Friday, June 3, and could extend all the way through June 6 if necessary. ASU will need to win three games, with the regional taking on a double-elimination format.
Six Pac-10 teams made the tournament: Arizona, Arizona St., California, Oregon St., Stanford, UCLA.
Tickets for the game will go on sale Wednesday. A lot of great things are happening for spring sports at Arizona State!
