ASU Vs. USC GameThread: Sun Devils Face Trojans With Three Key Players Suspended
Arizona St. Sun Devils at USC Trojans, Jan 5, 2012 8:30 PM MST
An interesting season for the Arizona St. Sun Devils figures to add another chapter tonight against the USC Trojans. Players Keala King, Kyle Cain and Chris Colvin have been suspended by coach Herb Sendek for "unacceptable conduct" and the trio did not travel with the team to Los Angeles.
Tonight's game, set to tipoff at 8:30 MST, presents a stiff test for the Sun Devils without three important contributors. However, it also presents an opportunity. Other ASU players- starting with Trent Lockett- will be forced to step up in the absence of King, Cain and Colvin. If ASU can respond with some strong play and a win, this suspension could turn out to be more of a blessing than a disaster.
Feel free to follow along and contribute to this GameThread throughout the game. Though the game will not be broadcast on TV, you can tune into KTAR 620 (which you can listen to here) for running commentary.

Sun Devils up 13-7 with 11:01 left in the first half
Nice, high shooting percentage early. Good start
ASU raining threes (five already), up 22-16 with 6:03 left
Still way too many turnovers though (six already)
Sun Devils up 34-24 at half
Felix carrying the offensive load with 13 points, Lockett contributing a little bit of everything with nine points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals
Things got close but ASU has staved off the comeback for now
Sun Devils lead 44-39 with 7:35 remaining
honestly...
play this team from here on out. It’s not like we were winning with the suspended guys. Might as well let those who actually give a s%*& about the team a chance to win with energy.
Seriously
The team looked inspired tonight. Why can’t they always play like that?
