The Sun Devils achieved a milestone this week, as they topped the polls for the first time in team history
For the last several weeks, Arizona State has been the nation's second-ranked team in the ACHA polls, which marked the highest position the program has ever held.
That all changed on Thursday, when the Sun Devils topped the latest rankings released by the ACHA.
At 11-0-0, ASU is the last undefeated team in the nation, and as a result pocketed 29 of the 46 first place votes. Ohio, who had been No. 1 for the last several weeks, lost their first game of the season over the weekend and fell to No. 2, while collecting the other 17 first-place votes. Adrian, Minot State and Robert Morris round out the top five.
The No. 1 Sun Devils (that feels good to type) will put their top ranking on the test this weekend against arch-rival Arizona down in Tucson. The Wildcats are 17th in the new polls, but ASU has a current 26-game winning streak over them that they will look to extend this weekend.
We at House of Sparky want to congratulate head coach Greg Powers, captain Colin Hekle and the entire Sun Devil team on such a great accomplishment. Keep it up, boys.
