Jahii Carson Jermaine Marshall and Jordan Bachynski , the three to see in ASU basketball, have emerged as the most valuable players, teams leaders for this season. It is clear that for the sundevils to be successful, these three players have to shine on a night in and night out basis. This was evident in their Monday night game at the Wells Fargo arena. As a spectator and fan at this game I watched these three put on a clinic against the 25th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles. These three players can help ASU achieve something special this basketball season.
Jahii Carson exploded out of the gate scoring 8 points and dishing 1 assist and a steal in the first 5 minuets of play, showing his much improved 3 point game hitting 2 threes; also getting a steal and a breakaway layup, pushing the score to 14-4 in favor of ASU, leading to a Marquette time out. Carson is obviously the vocal leader and best player on this team which is very prominent this season, his numbers are way up this year and its evident that he wants to take this team places. His enthusiasm, spirit and confidence is spreading through the the team like a cancer and this confidence couldn't be more evident than in junior college transfer senior Guard Jermaine Marshall who is absolutely lighting it up from three this year shooting 43% from the three which is crushing his last year percentage (33%), but has also shown the ability to create his own shot, put the ball on the floor and make moves. Against Marquette Marshall made a number of big plays including a converted layup and foul to give the sundevils a 1 point lead late in the game. And we cannot forget about the big fella 7'2'' Jordan Bachinsky; the man is an absolutely monster on the defensive end, providing a major presence in the paint blocking shots left and right, as he did 7 times against Marquette including the block of the game; stopping Marquettes point guard from scoring the basket that would send the game into overtime, allowing the SunDevils to escape with a 79-77 win over the Marquette Golden Eagles.
Jahii Carson finished with a total of 23 points 5 assist 3 rebounds and 1 steal; Jermaine Marshall with 21 points 2 rebounds and 2 assists; and Jordan Bachinsky fnished with 14 points 11 rebounds and 7 blocks nearly accumulating a triple double. These three players have proven themselves to be the players that will carry this team and fearless point guard Jahii Carson seems to be on a mission to lead this team toward tournament success. With Marquette out of the way, how will the Sundevils handle NBA lottery prsopect Doug McDermott and the 20th ranked Creighton BlueJays
