ASU vs. Arizona: The Territorial Cup victory through the eyes of Twitter

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

It was never even close as the Sun Devils pulled away from the Wildcats.

Arizona State pulled out to a big lead early and despite a few small missteps, the Sun Devils cruised to a 58-21 victory over Arizona on Saturday night. The game brought out the best in sports media from across the state. Here is just a sampling of what was sent out on Twitter during the game.

The former ASU baseball player weighing in. The uniform was chosen by the seniors on the team.

The Sun Devils struck first but couldn't get into the end zone.

This set up great field position for the Sun Devils and was just embarrassing for the Wildcats

Arizona State was dominating, but had yet to capitalize as it moved further into Arizona territory and had to settle for another Zane Gonzalez field goal.

The Sun Devils stopped Arizona again and quickly got the ball back. Taylor Kelly scrambled left and made the defender choose run or pass. Kelly then floated the ball over the top to Rodgers for a 38-yard pitch and catch to make it a 13-0 Sun Devil lead.

The Wildcats turned it over on downs for the first of three times on the night probably because they wanted to avoid more punt flag mocking.

Another short field and D.J. Foster was in the end zone in the blink of an eye. He was responsible for 32 yards rushing on the 47-yard drive.

Tisk tisk, when will Rich Rodriguez ever learn?

ASU was forced to punt but was back in business after an Alden Darby interception

De'Marieya Nelson bulldozed his way into the end zone from one yard out. He'll be needed a lot in the backfield without Marion Grice against a very physical Stanford team.

The Wildcats weren't ready to fall down just yet.

...But it was just that kind of night for the team from down south.

A 50-yard pass from Taylor Kelly to Jaelen Strong set up another 23-yard field goal by Zane Gonzalez.

Shivers...UCLA game flashbacks.

Breathes...Randall read the slant pattern and had a textbook interception to give ASU a comfortable lead back.

Arizona was quietly hanging around throughout the third quarter. Damarious Randall forced B.J. Denker to fumble but Garic Wharton picked the ball up and ran it in for a touchdown.

The true dagger was one of the prettiest passes the Idaho native has thrown all year to put ASU up 44-21.

Fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me...fool me three times?

The "no fly zone" was certainly put into effect tonight by the "Bird gang," every member of which showed up at the post game press conference. Osahon Irabor took his turn with this interception.

Another ASU baseball alumnus getting in on the fun.

Nelson had 21 yards rushing on the drive after the Irabor pick to round out the scoring.
