The Arizona State men's basketball team defeated the Grambling State Tigers 97-55 Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena. The Sun Devils set a new season-high in points and shot 63.5% from the field in the victory.
The Tigers kept it close for the first ten minutes of the game, as the Sun Devils led by just two points at the 10:03 mark of the first half. However, the Sun Devils ended the first half on a 18-0 run to put the contest out of reach.
Jordan Bachynski led the Arizona State with his eighth double-double of the year. The Canadian big man finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds in the victory. His eight double-doubles are four more than any other Pac-12 player coming into Saturday's games.
Shaquille McKissic came off the bench to have his best game of his Sun Devil career, leading Arizona State in scoring with 19 points on 6-8 shooting. Jermaine Marshall added 16 points and was 3-5 from 3-point territory. Jahii Carson scored 14 points with six assists and five rebounds.
The Sun Devil bench came to life, putting up 52 points, led by McKissic's 19 and Calean Robinson with seven points. In total, 11 Sun Devils scored points with four in double figures.
Grambing struggled the final 30 minutes of game time. After trailing 25-23 in 10 minutes left in the first half, the Tigers scored just 32 points the rest of the game. Grambing shot just 31% from the field and 9-16 from the free throw line. The Tigers were led in scoring by A'Torri Shine, who scored 16 points.
The Sun Devils will have a week off before hosting Tubby Smith and Texas Tech next Saturday at 4:30 local time.
