Cameron Smith To Arizona State: 3-Star WR Recruit Chooses Sun Devils Over Iowa

The Sun Devil wide receiving corps added an intriguing weapon in this Texas prep star

Cameron Smith, a three-star wide receiver prospect according to scouting service Scout.com, has chosen to sign with the Arizona State Sun Devils. Smith selected ASU over the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Smith selected the Sun Devils over Iowa and late charges from Nebraska and Oklahoma State. After an injury-plagued junior year at Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas, Smith rebounded to have a strong senior year that gained him these offers.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Smith was Scout.com's 123rd ranked wide receiver in the nation. With excellent quickness and speed (reported 4.4 time in the 40), Smith projects well to a slot receiver position in the Sun Devil offense, although he does possess the ability to play outside as well. He could figure in to challenge for playing time this fall as the ASU wide receiver position lost two starters and is coming off a largely disappointing season.
