Jack Powers To Arizona State: 3-Star OL Chooses ASU Over Pac-12 Rivals Washington State and Utah

Powers is ready to play at Sun Devil Stadium - Christian Petersen

Powers signed his letter of intent today to play for the Arizona State Sun Devils next fall.

Jack Powers officially signed with Arizona State on National Signing Day 2013. The 6-foot-6 high school senior will play offensive line for the Sun Devils.

Powers made it official this morning via his Twitter account.

He passed up on offers to play for Pac-12 opponents Utah and Washington State and also bowl eligible teams like Air Force and Fresno State.

Powers is listed as the 61st best lineman according to Scout and will give depth to the Sun Devils' offensive line. Auburn transfer Christian Westerman is the biggest story on the offensive line, but the Sun Devils are willing to test out some new talent to play on the line with rising seniors Evan Finkenberg and Kody Koebensky.

Powers played for Pulma high school in Salinas, California and started there for three years. Believe it or not, Powers played defensive end in high school, but college recruiters wanted to switch him to offensive lineman because of his 6-foot-6, 265 pound frame so they could develop him into an NFL-type player.

Though he won the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year Award according to his local newspaper, Powers is ready to focus on his new position this fall.
