The Sun Devils picked up an intriguing and versatile prospect straight from Big Ten country
Marcus Ball, a three-star athlete prospect according to scouting service Scout.com, has chosen to sign with the Arizona State Sun Devils. Ball selected ASU over his prior commitment with the Wisconsin Badgers.
Ball comes to ASU from a two-way prep career at Westerville-South High School in Ohio where he played both wide receiver and safety. He also had 24 FBS offers, and took official visits to Michigan, Illinois and Michigan State, as well as ASU. He committed to Wisconsin in November, but the Badgers' subsequent coaching change threw his recruitment back into the swing.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Ball has excellent athleticism and gives the Sun Devil coaching staff a number of options. His size and speed could make for some mismatches against linebackers at the team's 3-back spot, complementing the dynamic Chris Coyle. He could also be a force at safety or SPUR backer, where those same assets could present an offense a major threat off the edge.
