Stephen Dunn

Some basketball news and more preseason football honors in this edition of the ASU athletics week in review. The videos of the week feature Carl Bradford and new ASU guard Jermaine Marshall stuffing an All-American,

It was a good week to be an Arizona State basketball fan. The Sun Devils announced an 11-day trip to China to participate in the Pac-12's long term globalization initiative. Jahii Carson and company will play three games during the trip, including two against Chinese pro team Fujian SBS.

Herb Sendek got some great news last week when it was announced former Penn State guard Jermaine Marshall would be transferring to Arizona State. Marshall averaged 15.3 PPG last season in the Big Ten and figures to start beside Carson in the ASU backcourt.

A few more defensive players earned preseason honors last week, as Alden Darby was named to the watch list for the Thorpe Award and both Carl Bradford and Will Sutton were named to the watch list for the Nagurski Award.

Now onto the full week in review.

Five stories to read from last week

Jermaine Marshall Transfers to Arizona State: The former Penn State Nittany Lion will make Tempe his home for his final collegiate season. Marshall is eligible to play right away and should be a nice compliment to Jahii Carson in the ASU backcourt.

Pac-12 Linebacker Rankings: Our preseason Pac-12 position rankings continue as we break down the second level of the defense. See which team we think has the best group of linebackers and where ASU falls in our rankings.

Carl Bradford and Will Sutton Make Nagurski Watch List: Arizona State features two players on the Nagurski Award Watch List, the award given to the best defensive player in the nation. And unlike last year's winner Manti Te'o, we are pretty sure Bradford and Sutton both have real girlfriends.

ASU Basketball Headed to China: The Arizona State men's basketball team will play three games during their trip to China from August 9-19. The Sun Devils will be joined by the Cal women's basketball team on the trip.

SB Nation ASU Football Preview: Bill Connelly from gives a really good breakdown of the upcoming ASU football season. Connelly gives his 10 things to know for the ASU football team and gives his thoughts on the team.
