Catch up on everything you missed last week in the world of ASU athletics.

The week in review is back and there is a lot to cover in this edition. Todd Graham and company have been killing it on the recruiting trail as of late, make sure to check out the ASU recruiting story stream for all the latest updates.

The biggest news that caught your attention last week was the fact that the Sun Devils were left off the initial USA Today Top 25. ASU received 51 votes in the poll which was not good enough to get them ranked. USC, Oregon State, UCLA, Oregon and Stanford were all ranked in the preseason poll.

ASU Football Left Off USA Today Coaches Poll: The first coaches poll was released last week and the Sun Devils were not on it. The Sun Devils received 51 votes total placing them right around No. 30. The Pac-12 placed five teams in the first poll of the season, including USC (24) and Oregon State (25).

News and Notes

  • The ASU volleyball team is having two free coaches clinics on August 14 and August 21 at Wells Fargo Arena. The clinics take place after practice on those days and will run 30 minutes. Coaches attending can ask Jason Watson and his staff about Sun Devil practice habits and and other volleyball questions.
  • Brandon Magee recorded six tackles in his preseason debut last night in the NFL Hall of Fame Game. Former ASU safety Keelan Johnson recorded two tackles as the Cowboys beat the Dolphins 24-20.
  • Last week, former ASU catcher Tuffy Gosewisch became the 102nd Sun Devil baseball player to make it to the major leagues. Gosewisch played at Arizona State from 2002-2005 and spent nine years in the minor leagues before being called up by the Diamondbacks and making his MLB debut on August 1.
