It took 15 games and a victory over reigning Big Ten champion Wisconsin, but the Arizona State Sun Devils finally earned their first national ranking under Todd Graham.
The Sun Devils' make their 2013 AP poll debut at No. 23 after a controversial 32-30 victory against the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday night.
Arizona State entered the week as the first team out of the poll after receiving 64 votes in the week three tally. The Badgers came to Tempe ranked No. 20 in the latest poll after starting off in the preseason as the No. 23 team. With the loss, Wisconsin dropped to No. 24.
Graham's squad got the job done last night with help from a widely disputed final play. Wisconsin appeared poised to kick a game-winning field goal, but the Badgers ran out of time after a chaotic scene involving a poor kneel down effort from quarterback Joel Stave.
On Saturday, the Sun Devils will travel to Palo Alto to take on the No. 5 Stanford Cardinal. The Cardinal defeated Army by a final of 34-20 on Saturday.
Other ranked Pac-12 teams include the No. 2 Oregon Ducks, the No. 13 UCLA Bruins and the No. 17 Washington Huskies.
Alabama retained the top spot in the poll after a 49-42 win over Johnny Manziel's Texas A&M Aggies.
