March is finally upon us and for the first time since December, the Arizona State football team will be back in action. After a three-month layoff, the Sun Devils will hit the practice field for spring football in a lead up to the program's annual spring game in mid-April.
For many teams, spring practices are when the foundation is set for the fall, when returning players separate themselves as leaders, and when players take the upper-hand in earning starting spots for the upcoming season.
This spring affords the Sun Devils all of the aforementioned opportunities as Arizona State looks to replace the veteran leadership of players like Will Sutton and Alden Darby and lock down a working depth chart for fall camp as the team fills holes left by nine starters on defense.
Arizona State will hold at least 12 practices between Tuesday, March 18 and Thursday, April 17 as the program prepares for its third season under Todd Graham. On Saturday, April 19, the Sun Devils will hold their Spring Game at 11:00 a.m. which is open to the public and will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
House of Sparky's spring football coverage will begin on Monday, March 17 as Todd Graham is preparing to hold a press conference to brief media and fans on the program's expectations for this spring.
Two members of Graham's 2014 recruiting class will be able to practice with the Sun Devils in the spring as linebacker D.J. Calhoun and defensive end Edmond Boateng are early enrollees at Arizona State.
Current Sun Devils won't be the only Arizona State football players in the news this spring as House of Sparky will have updates and news leading up to the NFL Draft in May.
Arizona State's Pro Day is scheduled for Friday, March 7 and plenty of former Sun Devils including Will Sutton, Carl Bradford, Chris Coyle and Chris Young are expected to take part.
Make sure to check back with House of Sparky throughout the spring as we provide updates of current and former Sun Devils looking to take the next step in their football careers. Our spring coverage will include detailed practice reports, interviews with players and coaches, fall depth chart projections, and much more.
