Taylor Kelly, DJ Foster and Jaelen Strong have all been named to the Maxwell Award watch list, the award given to the best college football player.
Kelly was named to the watch list last season, and did nothing to make voters think he won't compete for the award again. Last season as a redshirt junior, he threw for 3,635 yards and 28 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 608 yards and nine touchdowns. He was named to the Second Team All-Pac-12.
Strong, a redshirt junior, caught 75 passes for 1,122 yards, both highs on the team. He had seven 1,000-yard games and joined Kelly on the Second Team All-Pac-12.
The junior Foster found his name on the Paul Hornung Award watch list, given to the most versatile payer in college football, as well the Maxwell. He had six touchdowns and 523 yards on the ground last season, and was second on the team to Strong with 63 receptions and 653 yards in the air.
The three Sun Devils on the list is tied for the second most in the nation, and tied for tops in the Pac-12. The Sun Devils also had three on the list last year, and the six over the last two years trails only Alabama, which has eight.
