Pac-10 Review, Week #2

This is a quick reflection on my predictions for week 2 in Pac-10 play.

Prediction: BYU 45, Washington 28
Reality: BYU 28, Washington 27

Obviously this game was much closer than I anticipated, and required the combination of a terrible unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and horrible special teams blocking on the PAT to put BYU over the top and into the win column.

Prediction: Penn State 42, Oregon State 17
Reality: Penn State 45, Oregon State 14

Basically what I expected. Oregon State is looking very mediocre at this point.

Prediction: Oregon 52, Utah State 7
Reality: Oregon 66, Utah State 24

I didn’t expect the Aggies to put so many points on the board, but they scored 10 in the fourth quarter, in garbage minutes. Oregon is somehow deadly once again.

Prediction: California 28, Washington State 17
Reality: California 66, Washington State 3

Wow. Alex Brink was way better than any of us could have imagined. What an embarrassment.

Prediction: Arizona 58, Toledo 13
Reality: Arizona 41, Toledo 16

Arizona took care of business against a horrible football team. The buzz is building down south...

Prediction: Arizona State 42, Stanford 14. No mercy.
Reality: Arizona State 41, Stanford 17.

I was happy to see us put the screws to Stanford at the end of the game; letting up would have been a bad sign, and now I feel slightly more confident about our team’s ability to make big plays in close games.

Week 2: 6-0
Season: 12-2

The predictions have been fairly easy to make so far. As the season progresses, look for my percentage to dip... but only a little.
