So, out of the three players we targeted it was that 6'6 freshman who did us in. 8 of 10 from three point range will do that to a team...but really, that is what we want to happen with our zone. 65 points shouldn't be insurmountable.
It's our shooting. Or lackthereof.
FG - 37% (28% in second half), 3P FG - 28%, FT - 58%
That can't get it done.
"We've got to make shots," Sun Devils coach Herb Sendek said. "It's probably no more complicated than that right now for our basketball team
Yeah...
Kuksiks was 3-13 and 2-10 from three. Harden, while he didn't have one of his dominating nights, should have probably shot most of the shots Kuksiks did. He can at least get to the line when the threes aren't falling. Kuksiks has shot 17 free throws on the season! Harden has shot over 10 free throws in a game 6 times this year. You just need to have more productive ways of scoring if your shots aren't falling, and at 6'6 Kuksiks needs to be able to do this or he doesn't deserve to be getting 35 mins on the court a night.
Aside from that, there really isn't much to say. We only had 6 turnovers (WSU had 7). We fouled less than they did.
The game was just frustrating to watch. Our superior talent held through in the first half, but it became painfully obvious we just were not going to be able to execute offensively, and Klay was more than enough to put us away down the stretch as we went cold. The kid hit 7 threes in a row, while we just sputtered. Really lame showing for the home crowd, and something that shouldn't happen after two big wins over UA and UCLA.
Stats after the jump. U dub coming up.
