March Madness Bracketology Update: Sun Devils still a 7 seed?

Lunardi released his latest version of Bracketology, and the Devils didn't move, despite wins over UCLA and USC.  I don't get it.  He has 5 Pac-10 teams currently making the dance, and we are seeded the 2nd lowest out of all of them.  Currently, Washington is a 4 seed, UCLA a 5 seed, Cal a 6 seed, ASU a 7 seed, and UA a 12 seed.  We beat UCLA twice, are ranked ahead of them, and  they were just swept out of the state of Arizona.  I agree with Washington as a 4 seed, for now.  I think we will take care of them at UW though and this will move us up in the seedings.  I disagree with Cal's seeding too.  They were swept by USC and UCLA, and also have losses to Stanford and Oregon State.  In my mind ASU should be a 5 seed. Cal a 7 seed.  UA is where they belong. UCLA should be a 6 seed.  For the first time this season, I don't think Lunardi has done enough research.  ANYWAYS, on to the pairings.

First round ASU goes up against Utah State.  I'm not buying the hype of the 23-2 Aggies.  They just lost to an average Boise State team, and have a few tough challenges coming up against St. Mary's and Nevada.  They haven't really played anyone this season and are just riding their easy schedule to the tournament.  Devil's win this one easily.

Next we go on to play Louisville, and just like last week's edition of Bracketology Update, we win.

Moving on, we face one of the hottest teams in the nation, Mizzou.  The 3 seeded Tigers have been playing lights out lately, and pulled off quite a comeback against Kansas.  I think this would be a very tough matchup for the Devils, as Mizzou can play high tempo basketball.  The jury is still out in my mind until they play Kansas again followed by a home game against Oklahoma.  If they win these, they are for real and I don't think the Devils can take them.  But for now, we win.

I see UCLA knocking off UNC in a heck of a game, and the Devils will face UCLA for a third time.  It seems that we already have their number and despite a questionable call which helped seal the deal for the Devils, we play well against the Bruins.  It is always hard to beat a team 3 times in one season, especially one which has a ton of Final Four experience, but I don't see why we can't do it again.

Final Four takes us to UConn.  Not a shot in h-e-double hockey sticks that we tame Thabeet.  Devils run will end here.  Until next time...GO DEVILS!
