Great Pac-10 Action Today; Sun Devils Officially Control Their Own Destiny

Today was a great day in college basketball, with the Bracket Busters action commencing and some memorable upsets (UNC @ Maryland and Washington State @ UCLA taking the highest honors). Some great stuff happened today in the Pac-10 as well.

  • Oregon got its first Pac-10 win of the season against Stanford.
  • Washington State's big upset over UCLA has shaken up the Pac-10 standings.
  • Likewise, Cal's loss to Oregon State has given ASU a great opportunity.

As it stands, this is the current Pac-10 standings.

Pacific-10 Conference Standings

(updated 2.22.2009 at 12:12 AM MST)

Conf Overall
W L W L
Washington Huskies 11 4 20 7
Arizona St. Sun Devils 9 4 20 5
California Golden Bears 9 5 20 7
UCLA Bruins 9 5 20 7
Arizona Wildcats 8 5 18 8
USC Trojans 7 7

Oregon St. Beavers 7 8 13 13
Washington St. Cougars 6 9 14 13
Stanford Cardinal 4 10 15 10
Oregon Ducks 1 14 7 20

As you can see, ASU and Washington are the driver's seat. If ASU can beat Washington and win out the regular season, they are the champions. If Washington can beat ASU, they look to be in great position to win the Pac-10 conference in 2009.

Tomorrow night at 8 PM is the biggest game of the season. Bring on the Wildcats!
