Some news from around ASU land.
- Dexter Davis just wants a little respect. The 6'2, 252 DE talks about how he has been disrespected over the years due to his size, only getting offers from UTEP and ASU, but has turned it into production. Davis led the team with 11 sacks and 15 tackle for loss - and is apparently being looked at for a 1-3rd round pick for the 2010 draft.
-
Erickson had his spring presser a week ago. Some interesting notes:
- offense will be "tweaked." what does that mean?
- might play 2 QBs in the fall
- Dan Knapp and Johnathan English are injured all spring
- biggest mistake of '08? Not moving G Shawn Lauvao to T, who is an absolute monster.
- Kerry Taylor will probably play Michael Jones' position this season.
- Hopes we don't suck in '09. (i added that one, but come on.)
- Recruitment has led to lots of players and lots of competition in spring camp. The 5 man competition for QB, every spot on OL except LT, which is being handed to Shawn Lauvao. Also a lot of competition at LB and S.
- Ted Miller has been ranking the Pac-10s top 30 players. Coming it at #24 is ASU DT Lawrence Guy.
- A look at ASU's olympic sports. We seem to have some good wrestlers.
- A look at ASU Hoops +/- for the season and for '09/10. Pendergraph and Harden's (probable) departures leaves some holes. Glasser could get the assist record, will Abbott rebound, the freshmen could all play. We might add another - a recruiting "coup" 6'10 forward from Florida... The East Valley Tribune also looks at the transition and goes over the roster.
- Lastly an AP article sizing up the Pac-10 football teams for 2010.
Will be an interesting spring. For now - check out some ASU baseball. We will keep you updated on the competitions in camp as they heat up in the next few weeks.
