Getting To Know The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks

The Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona are a decent team. They are ranked 24th in the FCS poll, having beat Western New Mexico to the tune of 48-0.

Zach Bauman, a freshman out of Hamilton High School in Chandler, had a big game for NAU, picking up 167 yards and four touchdowns.

Michael Herrick is the quarterback of the Lumberjacks, and he brings a lot of experience to the table. After transferring from Ole Miss, Herrick is now tabbed as a frontrunner for the Walter Payton Award, which is known as the Heisman of the FCS.

As a senior, look for Herrick to try to make the most out of his final collegiate matchup against an FBS squad.

NAU was 5-2 to start their 2009 campaign, but managed to lose their final four games to finish 5-6. With Bauman running all over the field, the Lumberjacks are looking to have a better 2010 campaign.

ASU shouldn't have any trouble putting up big offensive numbers against their defense. This is a team that gave up 49 points to Eastern Washington and 41 against Montana in 2009.

Since it's the in-state rivalry game, expect NAU to play hard and make it slightly interesting.

Prediction: ASU 45, NAU 14
