It's a new week, which means it's time to look ahead at the ASU events that are on the horizon. The Sun Devil basketball squad has two games this week- one on Monday and one on Wednesday- while the football program prepares for a bowl game.
Basketball:
Monday, Dec. 19th- ASU vs. Southern Miss Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles are 8-2 this season and are currently on a four-game winning streak. Trent Lockett, Keala King, Carrick Felix and the gang will need to keep their turnovers down in order to give this team a run. ASU's near 18 turnovers per game is not going to cut it in this one.
Wednesday, Dec. 21st- ASU vs. Fresno St. Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have struggled this season and are 4-6. They are 1-3 against Pac-12 competition so far this season (with a win over the Utah Utes and losses to the Stanford Cardinal, Colorado Buffaloes and Oregon Ducks). This game marks the end of ASU's five-game home stand before the team begins Pac-12 conference play with three straight road games, beginning with the Arizona Wildcats on Dec. 31st.
Football:
Thursday, Dec. 22nd- ASU vs. Boise St. Broncos (MAACO Bowl Las Vegas)
After ending the season on a four-game skid, the Sun Devils will take the field one last time for their bowl game match-up against the Broncos. Several seniors will be playing their final game as Sun Devils, and the team could move into the 2012 season with some optimism if they can put up a good showing against Boise State. The game will be broadcast at 6:00 p.m. MST on ESPN and ESPN3.
On another front, Todd Graham will continue filling out his coaching staff. Graham hired four late last week, and that process should continue this week as more announcements are made.
Also expect more news on the recruiting front. Which ASU recruits (if any) will transfer out? Which will transfer in with the Graham hire? We'll have to wait and watch this week as the ripple effect of the new coaching hire takes effect.
