ASU Week Ahead: Sun Devils Prepare For Conference Play With Rival Arizona Wildcats On Tap

The penultimate week of 2011 turned out to be a brutal one for Sun Devil fans as both the basketball and football programs struggled. The hoops team sustained two last-minute losses at the buzzer to Southern Miss and Fresno State. The football squad couldn't deliver against a very talented Boise State team.

2011 draws to a close with one more week to go. There's not much on the docket, but the one sporting event this week figures to be a big one as the Sun Devils basketball team travels to Tucson:

Saturday, Dec. 31st- at Arizona Wildcats

On New Year's Eve, the Sun Devils begin Pac-12 conference play with a match-up against the rival Wildcats. Arizona has a lot of young talent this year and will prove to be a challenge on the road. They have won two straight games after a 71-60 loss to Gonzaga on Dec. 17th.

ASU has struggled recently, as signified by their recent three-game slide, but they will have 10 full days off between their last game against Fresno State and the Arizona game. Hopefully this provides enough time for the Sun Devils to step back and re-establish some momentum in practice heading into the in-state duel.
