Jahii Carson Ineligible To Play For ASU Basketball This Season After NCAA Ruling

It's pretty much official. Doug Haller and ASUDevils.com both verified via Twitter this afternoon that Jahii Carson, ASU's top recruit in the 2011 class, is ineligible to play basketball this season.

This is a huge blow to Herb Sendek's team, especially after struggling thus far in 2011-12 with a 3-5 record. But honestly, did it really matter?

According to reports, Carson will be able to practice with the team and gain familiarity with Sendek's offense. There are zero seniors on the current team and no one is going pro from this crop of players. If anything, in 2012 Carson will be all the more prepared to lead a senior-laden team to a Pac-12 title run.

Putting on my maroon colored glasses, right? After all the melodrama surrounding the ASU coaching search, it is nice to put a positive spin on an Arizona State athletics issue.

Watch out, Pac-12... next year. I mean it, we're serious, guys. Hey, are you guys listening?
