ASU couldn't overcome a rough outing by their starting pitcher, Jake Barrett, and were saddled with their first loss of the season by Delaware on Friday night.
The Blue Hens (2-2) came out strong, and scored 7 runs in the first four innings of play. Riccio Torrez had a rough game for the Sun Devils (3-1), going 0 for 5 batting third in the order. Johnny Ruettiger stole two bases, bringing his total to seven on the young season.
In relief of Barrett was Mark Lambson, who pitched 5 innings of no-hit ball to pace the Devils. But without an offensive attack, ASU was unable to rally back and defeat Delaware. Jimmy Yezzo of the Blue Hens knocked in three RBI, and Eric Young got his first win of the season.
The series should continue today with a doubleheader, beginning at noon over at Packard Stadium. It looks like the weather will permit the games to be played, and hopefully the Devils can regain their mojo after a rough night.
