ASU Baseball Struggles Against Oregon State, Drops First Two Games

The Sun Devils have hit a snag on their road trip to Corvallis, where they are in the midst of a three game series against the Oregon State Beavers. ASU has lost both games played this weekend, falling 5-3 on Friday and 7-6 on Saturday.

Starting pitcher Kramer Champlin struggled on Saturday, giving up five runs and eight hits over six innings pitched for ASU. When the Sun Devils rallied to take a four run lead in the fifth inning, things looked to be turning around. That's when things blew up.

The Beavers put together five runs over the last three innings, including scoring the game-winning run against ASU closer Mitchell Lambson, who leads the team with three losses on the season.

Deven Marrero had another good game for ASU on Saturday, going 2-for-4 and driving in three runs. Andy Workman added two RBI.

The weather has been cold in Oregon these past few days, and it could be affecting the team. When it's cold outside, your muscles can tighten and it is often difficult for pitchers to warm up to full strength.

ASU has a chance to salvage a win in this series at 1:05 PM Pacific time this afternoon. It's 54 degrees and cloudy in Corvallis as of 12:45 PM.
