The 2011 Sun Devils baseball team has been through a lot.
First, ASU was banned from postseason play due to a myriad of violations spearheaded by former coach Pat Murphy. Then, freshman Cory Hahn suffered an awful neck injury, of which the severity has been kept under wraps by the family and school.
No one would have blamed this ASU baseball team if they would have had a mediocre season. After all, the odds were stacked against them from the beginning.
That's what makes this season so special for the Sun Devils, who have gotten off to a 34-11 start in regular season play on the strength of their pitching and experience.
Kramer Champlin and Brady Rodgers lead the team with seven wins each, with Jake Barrett close behind with six. The entire staff has an ERA of 3.09, which has made it very difficult on the opposition.
The Sun Devils have been lethal at home, going 23-5 in 2011 at Packard Stadium. They have been a respectable 8-5 on the road as well.
ASU looks to sweep the Long Beach State Dirtbags out of town on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 PM Pacific time. Head on out to Packard and cheer this team on!
