ASU Hockey: Sun Devils Ranked #2 in Latest ACHA Poll, Highest Mark in Team History

Arizona State's excellent hockey team inched closer to the ACHA's #1 ranking in the new polls

Fresh off of their 25th and 26th consecutive victories over the Arizona Wildcats, the Sun Devil hockey team got some great news as they prepare for their weekend series against Iowa State.

Now a perfect 3-0-0 on the year, Arizona State moved up one spot to No. 2 in the latest ACHA Division 1 poll. ASU received 16 first place votes and was just 15 points behind top ranked Ohio (1,050 to 1,035), and have outscored their opponents 28-4 so far this season. That second spot is the highest ranking the Sun Devils have held in team history.

The Sun Devils will face a tough test this weekend as they travel to Ames, Iowa to battle the 11th ranked Iowa State Cyclones. Iowa State comes into the weekend series at 6-1-0 after hammering the Kansas Jayhawks 9-1 and 9-0 last weekend. The Cyclones return their trio of 20-goal scorers from last season, including Jon Feavel, who is currently second in Division 1 with nine goals.

With Ohio being the third different team to hold the top spot over the last three weeks, another sweep by the Sun Devils could make the next rankings very interesting.
