ASU Football: Get To Know Your Sun Devils - Alden Darby

Safety Alden Darby provides solid back end playmaking skills, and recently let House Of Sparky get a glimpse of his life beyond football.

In his first year as a starter, safety Alden Darby helped turn ASU's past defense into one of the premier Pac-12 units in 2012. Darby pulled in three interceptions, capped off via his 70-yard pick-6 against USC.

Come season's end, Darby ended up earning a spot on the conference's second team all defense. Beyond the gridiron, Darby is outgoing and hilarious, and therefore an entertaining choice for this weeks Get To Know Your Sun Devil.

What is your favorite uniform combination?

"Oh, That's tough. My favorite might be what we are going to wear for the bowl game. But I can't tell you guys, I don't know if everybody has seen it yet."

When was your first kiss?

"[Laughs] My first kiss I was in Corporate visiting my Aunt. I believe I was in like elementary school."

If you could be any super hero who would you be and why?

"I would be Batman because he is all skill, he has no powers."

If you weren't pursuing an NFL career, what would be your ideal job?

"I would be dancing of course, and I always wanted to be a real estate agent. I feel like I can sell stuff, so something within the business world."

Why do you wear jersey number 4?

"Well in high school I really wanted to be number 4, but the quarterback had number 4 as a senior. I was number 2 in high school. When I came here it was open, so I got number 4."

What are some of your hobbies excluding football?

"Dancing, singing, having fun, playing video games, shopping and being with my family."

What's your ideal vacation spot and why?

"My ideal vacation spot would have to be Hawaii. I'm from long beach, I'm a beach bum. I love the beach so it would have to be Hawaii."

Compare California living to Arizona

"Oh man it's a huge difference. Nothing is better to me, California by far is the best. I love it out here, there's a lot of different things out here then California. But I love home."

Growing up, who was your role model and why?

"That's a very good question. Have to be anybody that was really doing something with their life, making the best out of their life. The situation I grew up in, just seeing somebody make it in life is my role model. I wanted to be like them."

What kind of music do you listen to?

"All kind of music. I like music that I can dance to, R&B and all genres."

Who do you think is the prettiest girl in the world?

"Would have to be my girlfriend."

What is the worst class you have taken at ASU and why?

"The worst class would probably be math class. It's crazy because I love math but I hate just learning it and doing it."

What professional sport teams do you root for?

"Lakers all the way! Padres in baseball, Chargers are my favorite team."

What is one funny embarrassing thing about yourself you don't mind sharing with the fans?

"I'm kind of outgoing, a lot of people say I do some weird stuff. I just like to do whatever comes to my mind, whatever is free I like to do."

Lastly, what was the main reason you decided to attend ASU?

"I liked it, when I came here I felt academically secure. Talked to the coaches and they didn't say anything about my talents. All they talked about was my school work, and how they are going to get me on track with my school and grades. So I felt secure academically, and that's why I came here."
