Sparky has some unfinished business on the lacrosse field.
Last season, perennial national power Arizona State had yet another outstanding year. They won the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) title for the second time in three seasons, and advanced to the Final Four of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) tournament, before falling to Cal-Poly.
With yet another talented team coming back to Tempe, it's little surprise that the Sun Devils earned the No. 2 spot in Lacrosse Magazine's preseason polls, behind only defending national champion Colorado State. Two other SLC teams made it into the preseason top 10—Chapman at No. 4 and UC Santa Barbara at No. 8.
With the excitement for the new season ramping up, it will be a little while before ASU begins their quest for redemption.
Head coach Chris Malone's team begins the 2013 season on February 9th with a road trip to Tucson to battle the Arizona Wildcats. Road trips to southern California and Minnesota then follow before the team returns to Tempe for their home opener on March 1st against Chapman.
Check out their full 2013 schedule here. Home games are played on campus on the women's soccer field.
