Friday was a return to form for Phil Mickelson as the three-time Masters champion hit a four-under 68 in Day 2 action at Augusta National. Now sitting at two-under after 36 holes, Mickelson is tied for 11th place with notable golfers including Vijay Singh and Charles Howell III.
Lefty had a solid day, scoring six birdies to contrast with only two bogeys. His performance was markedly better than Tiger Woods, who shot a three-over 75 and struggled with his driver all day long.
52-year old Fred Couples is tied for first with Jason Dufner at five-under par. Couples performs well at the Masters, including a 15th place finish in 2011.
The only other two ASU golfers participating in the 2012 Masters, Chez Reavie and Paul Casey, both missed the cut and will have to watch the remainder of the tournament with the rest of us.
Phil Mickelson tees off on Saturday afternoon at 1:45 PM Eastern time, or 10:45 for those watching in Arizona. He will be paired with Vijay Singh in what should be a highly entertaining duo.
Will Mickelson take home his fourth green jacket? Lets talk about it in the comments section.
