Our 100 day countdown continues this Saturday morning with one of the biggest wins in recent Arizona State football history. Yesterday, we talked about the buildup. Today, we focus on the final moments.
The Missouri Tigers came into Tempe with a 22-game non-conference winning streak. After quarterback Blaine Gabbert went to the NFL, sophomore dual-threat James Franklin faced his first real test as a starting quarterback for the Tigers.
The game itself was hard-fought, and Missouri mounted an epic rally in the fourth quarter that had ASU fans sighing that collective "here we go again" that has permeated Sun Devil football culture in recent seasons.
This video gives me chills. The crowd, adorned in black, cheered as loud as they ever have during Missouri's final possession. On fourth down, I recall standing in the upper deck with legitimate concern: we were shaking Sun Devil Stadium to its foundation with all the noise ASU fans made that play.
Go ahead. Put the video on full screen, crank up the volume, and enjoy the 11 minute ride.
