College is routinely referred to as the formative experience of a young person's life. Moving away from home, living in a dorm with a bunch of random people, and studying subjects you've never heard of before. It's all a blur.
During those years on campus, you have access to a unique location in Sun Devil Stadium -- the student section. As a student, I looked forward to every Saturday home game and the chance to pack the stands with thousands of my closest friends.
The experience is unlike any other in SDS -- most sections in the stadium are laid back, with season ticket holders sitting and only cheering at specific moments, like a touchdown or a big interception at the end of the game. When I was a freshman, I brought my parents to a game and sat in a section like this. I didn't understand why everyone was so unenthusiastic about the game.
Nowadays, I understand the value of sitting down for 3 hours, but back then I was blessed with the chance to stand on the bleachers in the student section for the entire game. High fives are rampant, A-S-U chants are infectious, and the pitchfork flies high over everyone's heads in unison.
When you're in the middle of that crowd, you think the entire stadium is going nuts. Truth be told, you're oblivious to the world around you, and you're completely immersed in the experience and pageantry of a college football game at Arizona State. It's one of the best experiences a Sun Devil can have, and I highly recommend every student try to make it to a game this year, adorned in gold and ready to lose your voice. You won't regret it.
