Started in 2010, the ASU Ring of Honor is a place were the greatest of the great from Sun Devil football's storied past see their names. The current 13 member class will be getting some company, as Arizona State will induct four more legends into the Ring of Honor during halftime of their October 18th game against Oregon.
Bob Breunig, Junior Ah You, J.D. Hill and Jim Jeffcoat have been chosen as this year's honorees. Among the most talented and decorated of Sun Devils, all four players are already enshrined in the ASU Hall of Fame.
Breunig was a dominant tackling machine during his career from 1972-1974. A local product from Alhambra, Breunig would earned three All-WAC selections and All-American honors in 1974 before a successful NFL career that saw him earn three Pro Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys.
Another Cowboy standout, Jeffcoat was a overpowering force at defensive end. He was the centerpiece of the Sun Devils' amazing 1982 defense, earning All-American honors, and was the Defensive MVP of ASU's Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma.
Ah You was a terrific defensive end for ASU from 1969 through 1971, playing key roles in the undefeated 1970 team and the 1971 Fiesta Bowl championship squad. Ah You was selected to three All-WAC teams.
The long offensive player in the class is one of the greatest athletes the school has ever seen, wide receiver J.D. Hill. In 1970, he became the first Sun Devil to top 1,000 yards receiving in a season, no small feat during the Frank Kush era. He was taken by the Buffalo Bills fourth overall in the 1971 NFL Draft, the second highest a Sun Devil has ever been selected.
