With the big news of the day coming earlier this morning with Taylor Kelly winning the starting job, a new depth chart for the Sun Devil football team is now out.
Some notable changes to the starting lineup have come as a result of the team's first three weeks of fall camp, such as:
Running Back: With Cameron Marshall the starter at tailback, D.J. Foster has earned a starting spot at the other running back spot, backed up by Marion Grice.
Tight End: Marcus Washington now listed as a co-starter with Darwin Rogers.
X (split end) Receiver: Rashad Ross now the starter after a stellar Camp T showing.
Y (slot) Receiver: J.J. Holliday now starting over former Y starter Kevin Ozier.
Nose Tackle: Jaxon Hood and Mike Pennel now listed as co-starters.
Defensive End: Junior Onyeali now listed as a co-starter with Davon Coleman, although Onyeali should see the bulk of the action.
Spur: Chris Young now the starter over Anthony Jones
Mike Linebacker: Steffon Martin now the starter over Brandon Johnson.
Other notable developments:
- Kipeli Koniseti now Carl Bradford's backup at Devilbacker
- Freshman Carlos Mendoza is now Brandon Magee's backup at weakside linebacker
- Freshman Richard Smith now listed along with Kyle Middlebrooks as Jamal Miles' backup at the Z receiver spot. This is Middlebrooks' first time not listed as a running back on the depth chart, although he has been listed as a wide receiver on the team roster for a while now.
Of course, the chart is subject to change in the 10 days leading up to the season opener on August 30th against NAU.
