The outcome was already decided. Arizona State was leading 38-14 Illinois with just four minutes left.
Yet here the Sun Devils were, facing a first and goal at the Illini seven-yard line. The game was already full of highlights, but the play about to take place would top them all.
Michael Eubank lined up at quarterback in the shotgun. Marion Grice came in motion from the left wide receiver spot in to Eubank's left. Eubank faked a handoff to Grice and ran up the middle. Seeing the lane clogged, he cut left and into the open field.
Illinoi cornerback Eaton Spence ran in pursuit. At the four yard line, he collided with Eubank. What happened next was predictable. The 6-foot-6, 233-pound Eubank bulled over the 6-foot, 200-pound Spence, took another step, then lept like Superman from the three-yard line for the pylon....
Well, just watch how awesome it was.
