ASU Football: Week 7 opponent results and recap

With six games left to play in the regular season, the future opponents of the Sun Devils look to be quite formidable.

Conference play really makes things interesting, and week seven was no exception. The Devils took care of business, but the road ahead looks very tough to close the season.

Washington: Lost to Oregon, 45-24. Washington showed a lot of heart against Oregon, but the talent gap took over in the fourth quarter and the Ducks put up 14 unanswered points. UW still has a very good team and will be ASU's biggest home test of the season. NEXT UP: UW visits Tempe for the first time since 2009, when Danny Sullivan threw a game-winning hail mary with just five seconds left on the clock.

Washington State: Lost to Oregon State, 52-24. We keep saying this every week, but Sean Mannion did it again - OSU's QB threw for 493 yards, four touchdowns and led the rout of the Cougars. Wazzu never got anything going offensively, as Connor Halliday threw three interceptions, part of an unusual six turnover day. NEXT UP: Wazzu gets a fun road tilt against Oregon.

Utah: Defeated Stanford, 27-21. The football gods can really bring you down, and Stanford continues to find ways to lose winnable games to prevent them from being in the BCS National Championship Game conversation. As for Utah, they played very well on defense and only turned the ball over one time, a statistic that makes all the difference. NEXT UP: Utah goes to Tucson to play Arizona and attempt to capitalize on their momentum.

Oregon State: Defeated Wazzu, 52-24. Can you imagine if this team hadn't lost to Eastern Washington? They'd be in the top eight. NEXT UP: Oregon State hits the road again to play California.

UCLA: Defeated Cal, 37-10. This wasn't a very exciting affair, and UCLA's run game struggled to only 78 yards on 34 carries, but the talent gap was large and Brett Hundley threw for 410 yards. NEXT UP: The schedule picks up as UCLA goes to Palo Alto to face Stanford.

Arizona: Lost to USC, 38-31. It wasn't as close as the score reflected, with Arizona putting up 21 points in the second half to make it respectable. This was a tough loss for the Wildcats, who are looking to continue their rebuild for next season. NEXT UP: Arizona hosts Utah, a team that's running high off their upset victory of Stanford.
