The fierce black Nike uniforms and flaming helmets didn't quite produce a victory for the Arizona State Sun Devils this weekend, so they'll be back to a more traditional look for their game against Colorado.
After playing in the Nike vs. Adidas battle of the century against Notre Dame, Arizona State returns home to face Colorado on Saturday night. The Sun Devils opened a vote a few weeks ago and invited fans to help decide what uniform Arizona State will wear against Colorado.
The fans spoke and after Saturday night's loss, azcentral.com revealed that the fans chose a combination consisting of maroon helmets, maroon jerseys, and gold pants for the Colorado game.
According to azcentral.com's final tally, this combination received 3,465 votes which is just under 44 percent.
The other uniform combinations in play featured a black helmet, maroon jersey and black pants as well as a white helmet, maroon jersey, and white pants.
The maroon helmets the Sun Devils will wear on Saturday will be identical to the ones they debuted against USC more than a week ago. These helmets feature a giant pitchfork on the right side of the helmet and a player number on the left side. The new helmets were an overwhelming success and received more favorable feedback than the flaming helmets Arizona State wore against Notre Dame.
