Last week, every team still on ASU's schedule won their games. In week 5, things were a little bit different, as conference play opened up in earnest on Saturday.
Colorado: Lost to Oregon, 56-17. Marcus Mariota led the Ducks with 7 touchdowns and Colorado never really had much of a chance. That's expected, though - Oregon may well win the BCS title this season. NEXT UP: The Buffs come to Tempe, and the Sun Devils will look to put out some frustration on the Buffaloes.
Washington: Lost to Stanford, 31-28. This game was the best Pac-12 contest of the week, as the Cardinal barely hung on to beat the tough Huskies. The worst part was that UW's rally was killed by an official review, where the outcome of the decision took the game from intriguing to over. Even with the loss, Washington looks to be on par with the best in the conference. NEXT UP: UW faces Oregon in Seattle, where the Pac-12 North could be at stake.
Washington State: Defeated California, 44-22. The air raid is alive in Pullman! Connor Halliday threw 67 passes and picked up 521 yards in the air. There's no balance in this offense, but it gives defenses fits. NEXT UP: Wazzu hosts Oregon State in what could be a very entertaining affair.
Utah: Lost to UCLA, 34-27. In a close game, UCLA was able to claw their way out of Salt Lake City with a win on a Thursday night. Those weekday battles really cause some teams trouble, particularly the ones wearing the road whites. Utah threw six interceptions yet somehow stayed in the game with some pretty solid defense. NEXT UP: Utah hosts Stanford.
Oregon State: Bye week. NEXT UP: Oregon State rolls into Pullman for a fun time.
UCLA: Defeated Utah, 34-27. UCLA managed to defeat Utah on Thursday night, though it certainly was an adventure. Like I said last week, the Thursday night kick certainly was a factor. NEXT UP: The Bruins get a tasty matchup against California in the Rose Bowl. Should be a reasonably easy task for the 11th-ranked team in the nation.
Arizona: Bye week. NEXT UP: Thursday night football in the coliseum! Arizona travels to USC. What can Ed Orgeron do with Cody Kessler? We're not telling!
