Alani (A.J.) Latu Commits To Arizona State Over Oregon State

A 3-star outside linebacker, Latu and his twin bother Viliami are headed to Tempe in a package deal

A.J. Latu, a three star recruit according to Scout, has officially committed to Arizona State on National Signing Day 2013. Latu chose the Sun Devils over the Oregon St. Beavers, but there really was no competition, as both Latu and his twin brother, Viliami Latu, have been verbally committed to the Sun Devils since October 2012.

Latu attended Rancho Cucumonga High School, situated in an eastern suburb of Los Angeles. At 6-2 and 230 pounds, Latu already has the physical tools to compete for playing time early on in his ASU career. The Sun Devils need depth at the linebacker position after the departure of senior captain Brandon Magee, but Carl Bradford, Steffon Martin and Chris Young will be valuable mentors to the Latu brothers.

Scout ranked A.J. Latu as the #41 OLB in the country. In a year or two, Latu could be a very important part of the ASU defense.

Here's a clip of Latu in action from his junior season.
