Alright Sun Devil fans, the uniform gods have heard your calls and they have been answered in the form of new helmets.
Less than two hours prior to Saturday night's contest against the USC Trojans, photos of the new helmets the Sun Devils are unveiling leaked.
The new design includes a larger pitchfork on the right side of the helmet and player numbers on the left side. Both the pitchfork and the number are gold.
When Nike worked in conjunction with Arizona State athletics in 2011 to rebrand the program's uniforms, the two sides promised creative ways to spice up the image of Sun Devil teams. Many fans have voiced their displeasure with the prominence of the color black in the new uniform combinations as fans have insisted on finding more ways to incorporate maroon and gold.
Tonight's helmets could signal the start of more changes coming in the Sun Devil uniform scheme. After hosting a blackout game against Wisconsin two weeks ago, the Sun Devils made Saturday night's game against USC a "Maroon Monsoon."
Next week the Sun Devils will travel to Dallas to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and plenty of uniform announcements will be made in the coming days. Rumors are swirling about new helmets, gloves, socks and more and we'll keep you up to date in the days leading up to the game.
