The USC Trojans and Texas Longhorns lost their spots in the Associated Press poll, but that was not enough to catapult the Arizona State Sun Devils into the Top 25.
The AP released its week three poll on Sunday morning and the Sun Devils found themselves on the outside looking in for the third consecutive vote. Todd Graham's team is on the fringe of a national ranking and inched ever closer to a coveted spot with a 55-0 victory over Sacramento State on Thursday.
Arizona State received 64 votes in the latest edition which puts the Sun Devils at 26th overall. The Sun Devils have never been ranked under Graham, but the 64 votes represent the most that Arizona State has received during his tenure.
The Wisconsin Badgers come to Tempe armed with a No. 20 ranking after a 48-0 victory against Tennessee Tech on Saturday. The Sun Devils will face ranked opponents in three of their next four games including No. 5 Stanford and No. 21 Notre Dame.
The Alabama Crimson Tide retained the No. 1 ranking this week but will face tough competition next weekend as they travel to College Station to take on Johnny Manziel and the No. 6 Texas A&M Aggies.
