This was a departure from the normal uniform reveal by the Arizona State equipment room Twitter account because the fans were allowed to cast their votes for which uniform they wanted to see the Sun Devils wear. Fans had a choice between three options. The first was a black helmet, maroon jersey and black pants which won with 49 percent of the vote. The second choice was a gold helmet with black jersey and white pants and the third choice was a black helmet with black jersey and gold pants. The black helmet on third option had a large pitchfork on the side which hasn't been seen in a game yet.
Last season the Sun Devils held their fan vote for the Colorado game on Oct. 12, 2013. In that election, the maroon helmet, maroon jersey and gold pants beat out the two other options of black helmet, maroon jersey and black pants or white helmet, maroon jersey and white pants.
The Sun Devils are 6-5 when wearing the black helmets.
